Have you ever known people who exhibit faith in God to do something for them? I know, and have met, many people who are not yet followers of Jesus who believe in His ability to heal them, protect them, provide for them and many of them even believe that Jesus can and will one day save them when the time is right. These people have faith—they believe in something that is not seen and cannot be proven. They believe and have faith in God. How is their faith different than ours? Is it different than ours? We learn the difference between simply believing and exhibiting faith through two different stories of lepers. Naaman an Old Testament warrior and a Samaritan leper were both healed of their disease. They returned to worship God with grateful hearts. The Samaritan and Naaman both experienced what it meant to have more than just a faith of belief. They choose God and stopped everything to worship God. Even Jesus, as busy as he was in this story, stopped and worship God through the healing of the 10 lepers. In a busy world, with life spinning out of control, will you be content to allow your faith to be one of belief? Or, will you recognize, like Naaman and the Samaritan that faith is more than belief? Will you find ways to see and hear opportunities to exercise your faith? |
